Australian Central profit up 55 pc

Adelaide-based credit union Australian Central has recorded a 55 per cent increase in half-year profit.

Profit after tax in the six months to December was $6.3 million.

Shareholders agreed last year on a merger with Savings and Loans to form one of Australia's biggest credit unions.

A new name for the merged entity will be announced this year.
