Posted March 14, 2010 08:00:00

A fight at the East Ringwood railway station, in Melbourne's east, has left a young man in hospital with stab wounds.

Police say a group of about 15 teenagers got into an argument with the 20-year-old and two of his friends on a city-bound train just after midnight.

Someone stabbed the man six times when the train stopped at the platform,

His injuries are not life threatening.

Sergeant Peter Williams says police are still trying to find the boys involved.

"There's an allegation there's about 15 to 20 15 or 16-year-old males that were on the platform and some were on the train at the time of the alleged offence, and it's not known who they are, but believed not known to the victim," he said.
